Sleep Tight
Sweet Dreams
But I don't sleep
I won't dream
They're back, you see
The tremors
The shakes and quakes that reverberate down my vertebrae
The palpable tension of muscles strained to the point of pain
To the point of tear
To the point of break and shatter and quake from the tremors
From the shakes
They're back, you see
The face that acts
The neck that contracts
The tongue that retracts
And the words that slip soundlessly down the throat
From vertebrae
To vertebrae
Causing quakes
And tremors
And shakes
I remain awake
I hope it's a dream.
